Information for Travelers
Visas to Angola
U.S. citizens are required to obtain visas before arriving. Visa applications and information as well as contact information can be found at www.angola.org. Visa approvals may take several weeks. U.S. citizens are strongly advised to register with the US Embassy upon arrival. Registering for the Warden system can be done at the American Consular Section located at Rua Houari Boumedienne 32, in the Miramar section of Luanda. Travelers must also demonstrate proof of inoculation against yellow fever with a World Health Organization immunization card or face a mandatory vaccination at the airport upon arrival.
U .S. companies that require travel of foreign businesspersons to the United States should allow sufficient time for visa issuance if required
Work Visa - The work visa must be initiated in the country of origin. The Consular office must send the work visa request to the Angolan Migration and Foreign Sevices (SME) in Angola for approval. The processing time for a Work Visa can take up at least 45 days from the day of its receipt by Angolan Embassy Consular Section of the complete application.
The work visa is valid for one year and multiple entries are permitted and the validity of the visa may not exceed the period of the work contract.
Ordinary Visa - The ordinary visa takes up to four days to process from the day of receipt the complete requirements. For ordinary visa, the time of stay may not excead 90 days.
Applicants by mail - Applications receipt by mail will take an extra day, if all documentation is in order. Further, mail applicants should send a stamped envelope or pre-paid Federal Express, UPS, D.H.L. envelope, to return the documentation. We do not assume any responsibility for other form of return process. Do not include with visa fee, the amount to pay the return of your documentation.
The following must be submitted by all applicants:
One recent passport photograph with the name on back. (No snapshots)
A passport valid for at least 6 months.
Documentation or correspondence related to the purpose of travel.
Foreign permanent residents of US must present a copy of Green card.

Additional documentation required for an ordinary visa:
A letter of invitation sent by the individual or institution to be contacted in Angola.
Photocopy of a round trip ticket or travel itinerary.
Certified check or money order in the amount of US $110.00. We do not accept personal checks.
Proof of means of subsistence while in Angola (US$ 100.00 per day). Note: A bank statement or letter from an employer sponsoring the travel normally is considered sufficient proof.
Additional documentation required for a work visa:
Copy of contract addressed to the Consular services of the Embassy of Angola, signed by the representative of the firm or institution employing, hiring or sponsoring the trip, with the specific reference to the job to be performed by the applicant, the duration of the engagement and assuming full financial responsibility for the applicant. It must be authenticated by Public Notary.
Two additional photographs.
Statement agreeing to respect Angolan laws, authenticated by a Public Notary.
Certification of no pending criminal proceedings authenticated by the Department of State.
Medical statement of health including HIV test authenticated by a Public Notary.
Certified check or Money order in the amount of US $300.00.
The requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all inclusive. The Consular office of the Embassy of Angola has the right to request additional information, if necessary.
