Francisco J. Fernández

Republic of Angola 

Mr. Fernández has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Luanda, Angola since July 2006.  Prior to this assignment, he was Counselor for Economic Affairs at the United States Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia.   Mr. Fernandez joined the Foreign Service in 1986 and has also served in Washington, Mexico, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil.  He is the recipient of several Department of State Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards. 

Mr. Fernandez did his undergraduate work at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and his graduate work at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  He is married and has three children.
