THE UNITED STATES SUPPORTS THE CABIDAN PEACE PROCESS

The United States strongly supports the Cabindan peace process. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a significant step in promoting peace and reconciliation in Angola.

For the people of Cabinda, this Memorandum of Understanding is more than just a document on peace and reconciliation; it is the promise of economic development and increased political influence.  We look forward to learning the details of the Memorandum, including Cabinda’s special status and implementation of the various components of the accord.

As a friend of Angola, we believe that this is an important milestone, brought about by Angolan leadership.
