Arriving in Luanda

This section tells you how to maneuver the Luanda airport, Aeroporto 4 de Fevereiro, which is located 4 km from the center of Luanda (a journey of around 15 minutes depending on traffic). The Embassy is around 20 minutes away in the Miramar section of the city. Make sure to have someone meet you at the airport to take you to your lodging, unless you wish to take one of the costly Macon taxis generally lined up outside the arrivals terminal to take passengers downtown.

Entering the Terminal Building: A bus will take arriving passengers from the plane to the terminal. As you enter the terminal building after leaving the bus, proceed to vaccination control. It is necessary for the vaccination control station (generally staffed by one or two individuals wearing white laboratory coats) to inspect the visitor's international vaccination certificate (yellow card), which you give together with the completed entry form you may have received on the aircraft. These are returned with the entry form having been stamped. (Sometimes there is no one at the station. If that is the case when you arrive, proceed to the immigration control stations.)

Immigration Control Station: Present your passport and arrival form. After the immigration agent has stamped your passport, proceed to the left to the baggage claim area, and then to customs control, after which you will exit the airport.

Warning: Photography is strictly forbidden at the airport and in the surrounding area.
