US Government Provides $ 50, 000.00 for victims of floods in the Angolan province of Cunene
The US Embassy in Angola is pleased to announce that the Government of the United States will provide the initial amount of $50,000.00 in emergency assistance to help the victims of heavy rains in the province of Cunene, southern Angola. The financial assistance has been made available under the US Chief of Mission Emergency Fund.

The financial assistance has been made available under the US Chief of Mission Emergency Fund.
The fund, which will be provided by the US Government Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Non-Governmental Organization Catholic Relief Services (CRS), will be used to acquire humanitarian basic goods and construction materials to build secure shelters.
Since the beginning of the year, heavy rains in southern Angola caused flooding that is affecting the provinces of Cunene and Kuando Kubango. The Angolan National Commission for Civil Protection (CNPC in Portuguese) controls over 51,000 displaced people and the UNICEF reported that about 10,000 houses were destroyed. In addition to this, flooding has killed cattle and destroyed farms, roads, and schools.
The US Government Agency for International Development (USAID) will continue to monitor the situation to coordinate with the Government of Angola further assistance if new needs arise.
